Fuzzy Friends Rescue Story of the Month - July 2010 It has been a week now since I have officially adopted my new best friend and forever companion Hershey, formerly known as Elvira. Because you were so kind to shelter her and care for her until she got adopted, I thought you might like to know how she is doing.
First of all, Hershey has adjusted quite well. She has discovered in a very short time, that she loves air conditioning, loving attention, and companionship as much as I do. Because she is afraid that this life isn’t real, she has tried to train me to go outside with her every time I let her out to do her business. And I did this for the first four or five days. She now will go out by herself but doesn’t like to stay very long. She has been so much fun. One day while out with her at 6:30 a.m., the sprinklers came on. She got so excited that she ran back and forth in the “rain”, stopping to roll in the water or to sit and try to catch the water in her mouth. I had to laugh watching her have so much fun. Hershey responds well to discipline and tries to do as she is told. Because I have cats and my bedroom is their sanctuary, Hershey is not allowed in there. All I do is remind her that she cannot go in and she just respectfully sits by the door and watches. I can stay in the bedroom for however long, but she won’t try to come in. How’s that for good behavior. Needless to say, this beautiful creature is a gift from God. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of adopting her. And thank you taking such good care of her as well as all the other animals in your care. Sincerely,
